Venturer Mountain Bike Weekend

Thursday 27th March - Sunday 30th March 2008

The Venturer Mountain Bike Weekend is on again and will run for three days. The Bogong Rover Chalet is again offering this unique opportunity for Venturer's to experience Mountain Bike Riding in the Victorian High Country at a great price.

The trip will be an action packed experience, allowing Venturers to enjoy the thrills and spills of Mountain Bike Riding in some of the most highly regarded off road cycling areas in Australia.

If you are pursuing your Queen's Scout it also offers a chance for Venturers to achieve their Outdoor 1 in Mountain Bike Riding. We will offer badge advisers, quality instruction and at least 15 hours of riding, which will include all aspects of Mountain Bike Riding including Down Hill, Cross Country, Obstacle Crossings, Bike Maintenance and Safety.

Whether you are a die-hard mountain biker or someone who would enjoy a casual ride in the scenic Victorian high country this weekend is for YOU. Venturer Leaders are encouraged to accompany their Venturers.

When: Thursday 27th - Sunday 30th March 2008

Cost: $60 (covers meals, accommodation, and bus transport for you and your bike)

Time: The weekend will start at Yarra Valley Region Headquarters, Heathmont at 6pm on Thursday and return approx 7pm on Sunday

Location: The Bogong Rover Chalet, Bogong High Plains is located 11km from Falls Creek in the Alpine National Park.

What Else: The weekend has a limited number of places so first in with the money will be accepted.

Award Scheme: Award Scheme Activity Areas that may be undertaken with the approval of your Unit Council, and/or District/Zone Venturer Council include:

• Expression - Make a video or still photo record of the weekend. Write a report on the weekend
• Pursuits 1 or Outdoor 1 - Do a cycling pursuit. Log the trip including routes taken, equipment used and skills involved and learnt.
• IDEALS 1 (part 5) - Run a scouts Own on the weekend.
