Saturday

Everybody arrived in the Chalet safely after a easy trip in. Those who hadn't done a Winter Party were given the grand 'don't touch these things' tour, whilst the rest relaxed.

Sunday

Ski-play day! Everybody headed up to the slopes behind Cope Hut so we could show off our skills, or perhaps start perfecting the snowplow. After Lunch, Tony organised a group to return to the SEC Hut at Langford Gap to retrieve a glove he'd lost on the trip in. A bit of a wild goose chase, but the trip home involved a climb over Basalt (which was very windy).

Night time entertainment included the blanket game, which Rachael excelled at.

Monday

A big tour headed off to McNamara's Hut via Langford West Aqueduct trail. We elected to follow the creek from the cattle grid after Raspberry Hill, and the experience wasn't entirely pleasant. Trees, shrubs and patchy snow don't make for ideal skiing conditions. Lunch at the hut was good, then a creek crossing and a long ski home, some going via the Aqueduct and the 'hardcore' team via High Plains Road (the weather was crap by this stage).

Those that didn't do the big tour snowboarded and played on the Baby slope. Monday night we had a 'talent' show, ranging from Brendan's iron-gut to putting water on Dan and Adam and the boys with their performance.

Tuesday

The 'hardcore' team (Andrew, Dave B, Dave S, and James) headed off for Young's Hut, and many others made an ascent of Mt Jim in pretty ordinary conditions. The 'easy' tour climbed Mt Cope for a better view, and perhaps decent phone reception. A great touring day, with the last team returning by 5:30pm (R.A.T).

The evening's entertainment concluded with a rather surreal game of ten-pin bowling accompanied by people wearing bowler's hats and reciting poetry!

Wednesday

Unfavourable weather prevented a trip to Mt Niggerhead, so the 'Plan B' to Kelly's and Fitzgerald's Hut went ahead with a sizeable contingent. Reports were good skiing, although Kelly's Hut was described by one person as the 'Housing Commission Hut of the High Plains'!

Many people chose not to go skiing, opting instead to stay in the Chalet and play games like 'worm' and generally laze around. We played 'worm' again at night time for the benefit of those who did go skiing, but this time all the mattresses were hauled into the dining room.

We had a bit of a sing-a-long, with Adam's creations 'Piggy' and 'Pineapple and papaya' soon to be sung in pubs all over Australia! Have a look at Tony's website (shown below) for video of them.

Thursday

A tour headed off for the Rocky Nobs to 'shred the rad' (late 1980's speak for 'carving up the snow') and others opted to stay inside for games of hide-and-seek and sardines. Who'd have guessed you could get 10 or more people into the kitchen pantry! An afternoon tour to 'shred the rad' near Investiture Point following the pole line back to the Home slope found HEAPS of fresh snow making turning hard.

Party night went really well, with many good drinking games overseen by Safety Pint Officer Stu L (BC). Many a sore head the next morning, with Dan and Luke having a surprise in store for all who went down to get their ski gear on in the drying room.

Friday

After the inevitable late start, the Party headed off to Investiture Point to invest the new Rovers as well as a Ranger (Erin). Night time activities included the anti-socials playing 500 and others signing their Crew plaques.

Saturday - home

An early rise and clean-up to head back to Falls Creek after a bloody fantastic week at the Chalet! All went well until Rachael stacked near Oversnow in front of many snowboards / downhillers. Fortunately, all made the bus home in one piece.
